Ancient Forest (Rural Trip)

Cost: $45 per person

Maximum Capacity: 40 participants

Embark on a fascinating field trip to rare inland forest, Chun T’oh Whudujut, about 120 km east of Prince George, where you’ll explore British Columbia’s only inland temperate rainforest, where thousand-year-old western red cedars soar overhead. Wander along a universal-access boardwalk and a 2.3 km trail that passes the awe-inspiring “Big Tree” and a tranquil waterfall. This ecosystem exists within a distinct fire regime, driven by cool, moist conditions and heavy snowpack, unlike the nearby boreal forest, which is adapted to frequent, high-intensity crown fires every 50–200 years that reset entire stands.

Join us for an immersive off-campus experience! We are offering two field trip options—one rural and one urban. Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Early booking is recommended.

*Important: You may only register for one field trip. Spots are confirmed once payment is received.
