Call for Abstracts & Special Sessions

Date of Event: 22 - 24 October 2025

Academics, professionals, practitioners, and knowledge holders working on wildfire-related topics are invited to submit abstracts or special session proposals in one of the formats listed below.  

2025 Themes Include:

  • Climate Change and Fire

  • Fire Ecology

  • Indigenous Fire Knowledge and Stewardship

  • People, Communities and Fire

  • Fire and Watersheds

  • Wildfire and Wildlife

  • And more…

Abstract SUBMISSION DATES

Abstract submissions opens: July 1, 2025

Deadline for Abstract submissions: August 18, 2025

Registration opens: July 21, 2025

Registration closes: September 25, 2025

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstract Length: Max 1800 characters (approx. 250 words)
Abstract must Include:
  • Title
  • Author(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Email contact
  • 3–5 keywords
  • Brief description of objectives, methods and results
The following formats are allowed:
       1. Oral Presentation*:
  • Presentations should be 15 minutes total: 12 minutes for delivery and 3 minutes for Q&A.
  • Time limits will be strictly observed. A computer, projector, and internet access will be provided.
  • Please bring your presentation on a USB stick. Any additional equipment is the responsibility of the presenter. Visual supports (slides, handouts, digital media) are encouraged, though photocopying facilities will not be available on-site.
​        2. Poster Presentation:
  • Posters should be planned for a maximum space of 1.2 x 1.2 m (4’ x 4’).  
  • Posters will be displayed throughout the event duration.
  • Adhesive material will be provided.

*One oral presentation per person. Additional contributions are welcome and can include poster presentations, or organizing a special session.

Selected submitters will be notified by email before September 1, 2025. You may be provided with feedback to refine your abstract for publication on our website and in the conference proceedings.

SPECIAL SESSION Proposal Submissions GUIDELINES

Have a creative idea for a panel, workshop, roundtable or art-based session?

Formats may include:

  • Thematic research panels

  • Indigenous knowledge-sharing circles

  • Art, film, or storytelling presentations

  • Collaborative workshops or training sessions

Special Session Requirements:

Title and session format (e.g., panel, workshop, roundtable)

Brief description (background, purpose, expected outcomes)

Names of potential presenters (if known)

Sessions will be 90 minutes

Selected submitters will be notified by email before August 15, 2025
